Plein air watercolorist Jeff Suntala painting with bicycle.About Cleveland Watercolorist Jeff Suntala
When computers first became practical for creating art in the late 90’s, I dove head first into all things digital. I soon realized that while it was a great way to make a living, it wasn’t nearly as fulfilling as creating real physical art.
This website features personal work created since then. A member of the Ohio Watercolor Society, I’ve spent the last few years concentrating on urban plein air painting in Cleveland. Most of the paintings are for sale, so feel free to contact me at jeff (at) suntala.com if you see one without purchasing information. Being a lifelong Clevelander, I hope you enjoy my Cleveland watercolors in particular. As of 2021 I’ve been creating and offering a Cleveland Plein Air Watercolor calendar. Look for it in mid October of every year!

My illustrations (both traditional and digital) can be found at suntala.com and a whole slew of ballpark posters that I’ve created can be found here.

Here’s a local PBS segment featuring an interview and snippet of me painting. It also features Bob Moyer, the man who taught me how to watercolor and all around Cleveland illustration genius. Bob passed away a couple years ago at I believe age 92. He was still going strong!
