Barberton Ave at W 66th, February 19, 2023

$275.00

I scoped out this area last year or the year before. The big old factory casts a great shadow and I popped by at just the right time to appreciate it. The day started overcast, then lightly sunny, then full sun. This is when it was lightly sunny (you’ve got to make a decision how you’re going to paint it, and that was my decision). In the full sun the big brick building on the right lightened up from reflected light, but when I painted it, it wasn’t all that shunny and it was DARK. The sidewalks around here are amazing. Serious shifting, cracking, grass growing over the edges of the sidewalk, creating wonderful scalloped shapes as you look up the walk. The neighborhood around this has a LOT of severely pruned street trees as well. I see many future paintings coming from this area.
