Painted as part of the 2025 Peninsula Art Academy Plein Air event, these buidings are recognizable to everyone in Peninsula. I enjoyed trying to capture the different warm and cool colors on the shadow side of the white building. It’s heavily slatted, and I ignored the temptation to draw the slats. Historically I’m not very good at it! The owner of the coffee shop must be doing something right, as the line in the coffee shop is always long and everyone is coming out smiling. He stopped by while I was painting to say hello too, so there’s that.
