New in town, painted a week or so after its dedication, the Superman statue is accompanied by another set of statues of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the creators of Superman, and Joann Siegel, the woman who modeled for Lois Lane and later became Jerry’s wife. It’s located at the Siegel and Shuster plaza at Ontario and St. Clair, a block or so north of Public Square. I previously painted the Siegel house, where Jerry dreamt up the character in his upstairs bedroom. Gives me goosebumps!
