Kinkel Ave is one of my favorite spots. San Miguel’s church is featured in the background. This painting is a series of triangles. They’re everywhere in the composition, playing off and strengthening each other. The warm sidewalks and the cool asphalt complement each other as well, one of my favorite motifs of these urban paintings. In this case the dried salt on the road accounts for that big light streak. And the cracks in the sidewalk! There’s an empty flat lot to the right of me here, so even though I parked right in the middle of the sidewalk to paint this, I wasn’t in the way of anyone.
